Objectives: TO grasp the KAP status quo and related factors affecting the medical inpatients for their oral medication safety and Medical health care personnel to promote the inpatients for their oral medication safety that provide basis for education programs for promoting the inpatients for their oral medication safety and then do evaluation for the initial intervention program.Method: 1. Large-scale survey: self-made questionnaire, researcher and her Companion conduct a survey on patients (270) in Department of Heart Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and Digestion Medicine and the corresponding sections of the Doctor (155)and nurses (210) from four Three-level hospitals in shanghai in July to October 2008, and the content mainly comprises three parts: General characteristics of study population, the knowledge, attitude, Behavior or behavior orientation and other obstacles for the inpatients for their oral medication safety and Medical health care personnel to promote the inpatients for their oral medication safety. (KAP options using level 1-5 score)2. Intervention evaluation: In November to December 20008, 60 cardiac medical patients corresponded to the selected condition were randomly divided into control group and intervention group, all 30, the control group using the traditional model of clinical guidance and intervention group patients using the patients for their oral medication safety health education guided by the KAP model. Evaluation tool consists of study population characteristics of patients and knowledge, attitude, behavior or behavior-oriented contents for the status questionnaire. The inter-group control and self-control method was used for evaluated before and after the intervention effect. The data obtained from the above investigation were both inputted to SPSS13.0 for statistical treatment. Results: 1. The status quo investigation: (1) The investigation for the patients found that: The cognitive level is a middle-level of (3.71±0.56) points (maximum =5 points), and education level, place of residence, attitude and behavior scores were correlated ; the attitude is in the general level , a score of (3.36±0.84) points (out of 5 points), and education level, departments, place of residence, cognitive and behavioral scores were correlated; The behavior level is low, and a score of (2.63±0.41) points (out of 5 points), and cognitive and attitude scores were correlated.(2) the investigation for the medical staff found that,①doctors: The cognitive level of safety is a middle-level, a score of (3.59±0.42) points (maximum = 5 points), with qualifications, attitude scores were correlated; The attitudes are in the general level, a score of (3.77±0.91 ) points (out of 5 points), and hospital, cognitive and behavioral scores were correlated; The behavior level is a middle-level, a score of (3.09±0.33) points (out of 5 points), with section, professional title, knowledge, attitude scores were correlated.②Nurses: The cognitive level is a middle-level, a score of (3.74±0.51) (maximum = 5 points), and sections, attitude and behavior scores were correlated; The attitudes are in the general level, a score of (3.84±0.82) points (out of 5 points), and hospital, cognitive and behavioral scores were correlated; The behavior level in the general level, and a score of (3.60±0.63) points (out of 5 points), and hospital, knowledge and attitude scores were correlated. 2. Intervention evaluation: (1) intervention effects: inter-group and self-control before and after the discovery, knowledge, attitude and behavior were significantly enhanced (P<0.01), Control group before and after comparison of their own founded that in addition to the attitude level with statistical significance (0.01

0.05). (2)Study of the impact factors for the overall knowledge, attitude and behavior level's changes: Intervention activities, payment type was positively correlated with the cognitive level(B>0) and the employment, types of chronic disease was a negative correlation(EKO); intervention activities was positively correlated(B>0) with the attitude level, with the age, educational level, ccupation of a negative correlation(B<0); Intervention activities was positively correlated (B>0) with the behavior level. Conclusion: The cognitive, attitudes for medical patients for their oral medication safety are medium level, while lower level behavior; the cognitive, attitudes and behavior for the health care professionals to promote their participation are the middle class. The factors affecting the KAP status quo analysis revealed that the behavior level for patients with medical and nursing staff involved in medication safety and promoting their participation are mainly positively related with corresponding knowledge, attitude and behavior levels, but also related with other objective and subjective factors.About patients involved in medication safety and health education under the guidance of the KAP model achieved good results: cognitive, attitudes, behavior or conduct orientation changed dramatically. But if sustained higher knowledge, attitude and behavior or behavior-oriented level, it would need to carry out long-term repeated health education in order to strengthen the effectiveness.
