| Since the 20th century 70's,a large number of animal and clinical trials were done in order to explore whether sulfonylurea increase the incidence of adverse complications and mortality of diabetic patients with cardiovascular disease or not, but the conclusions are not consistent. This paper discuss the impact of sulfonylureas on the cardiovascular system. It was explored in term of the mechanism of sulfonylurea, the relationship among ATP-sensitive potassium channel, ischemic preconditioning and sulfonylurea, a large number of animal and clinical trials such as, for clinical, in particular, patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases, a more reasonable application of sulfonylurea drugs and to provide evidence-based basis for further study.
