Dracocephalum moldavica L., which belongs to family labiatae,is a perennial herbage plant, all above-ground can be used as medicines. The germination of seeds and effect of nitrogen application on Dracocephalum Moldavica L. growth, yield and contents of the effective ingredient were studied. The results shows that:The seed of Dracocephalum moldavica L. could germinate under light and dark conditions, The suitable temperature was 20~30℃, with the optimal condition at 25℃. Seed soaking could promote seed germination, the best seed soaking time was 12 hours.The proper nitrogenous could obviously increase the plant height, the stem diameter and the branching number, higher nitrogen rates treatments inhibited plant growth, the stem thick and the branching number would decrease;the content of soluble protein content and nitrate reductase activity in leaves of Dracocephalum moldavica L. plants was changed with different nitrogen levels; according to the test results: nitrogen application can effectively improve the overground yield and content of essential oil, the content of essential oil increased with amount of applied nitrogen, but decreased with amount of applied nitrogen 15 kg/667 m2, the optimal nitrogen application was 15 kg/667 m2.Different levels of nitrogen supply had remarkable effects on the contents of the effective ingredient. The essential oil content of the stems,leaves and flowers is lower in low and high nitrogen fertilizer, fitting nitrogen fertilizer can increase essential oil content in flowers effectively. The excess fertilizer can decrease the total flavonoid content. An increasing dosage of nitrogen fertilization can't improve total flavonoid content of flowers.
