Investigation Of CEA, CEA-mRNA Expression In Colorectal Cancer And Gastric Carcinoma Tissues

Objective:To explore the epression of CEA,CEA-mRNA in colorectal cancer,gastric carcinoma tissues,In order to provide the theory of early diagnosis of colorectal cancer and gastric carcinoma.Methods:The serum CEA levels were estimated in 21 patients with colorectal cancer,20patients with gastric carcinoma and 20 patients with optimum gastrointestinal disease before being operated.And expression rates of CEA,CEA-mRNA in carcinoma tissues,adjacent tissues of carcinoma and optimum gastrointestinal disease tissues were estimated by immunohistochemical method and real time fluorescent quantitative RT-PCR method.Results:The Expression rates of CEA in serum,carcinoma tissues and adjacent tissues of carcinoma in colorectal cancer were 61.9%(12/21),95.2%(20/21),14.3%(3/21);and that in gastric carcinoma were 50%(10/20),80%(16/20),and10%(2/20).The Expression rates of CEA-mRNA in carcinoma tissues and their adjacent tissues were 100%(21/21),33%(7/21) in colorectal cancer and were 100%(20/20),30%(6/20) in gastric carcinoma. Out of the patients with optimum gastrointestinal disease the serum CEA level was 35%(7/20),and the Expression rates of CEA,CEA-mRNA in tissues were 15%(3/20),30(6/20).The positive rates of CEA-mRNA expression in gastric carcinoma tissues differ signicantly from that of CEA in serum and in carcinoma tissues(p<0.05).The positive rates of CEA-mRNA expression in colorectal cancer tissues differ significantly frome that of CEA in serum(p<0.05).The expression rates of CEA and CEA-mRNA were low,in adjascent tissues of carcinoma and tissues of optimum gastrointestinal disease.Conclusion:The expression rates of CEA-mRNA were high(100%),and that were lower in optimum gastrointestinal disease tissues.the application of CEA-mRNA detection is important in early diagnosis of colorectal cancer and gastric carcinoma.
