Effect Of Qizheng Qingpeng Ointment On Antioxidation Ability In Trained Rats

Objective:This research tested the free radical,antioxidant enzyme,and cytokine indexes in the blood and skeletal muscle of trained rats which applied Qizheng Qingpeng Ointment;and analyzed the change of above indexes at rest and immediately after exhaustive swimming to explore the contribution of this ointment on antioxidation in the trained rats.The aim is to provide theoretical and experimental basis for opening up the ointment market and exploring the feasibility application on those who exercise regularly.Method:Selected 36 healthy male Sprague-Dawley big rats were randomly divided into four groups:A,B,C and D groups.C and D groups were applied the ointment 3 times a day in the limbs;A and B groups were applied placebo in the same places.The four groups were trained on the animal treadmill for 4 weeks;A and C groups were killed in the next day morning after 4 weeks training;B and D groups were killed immediately after exhaustive swimming.The content and activity of MDA,GSH-PX,SOD,TNF-α和IL-6 in skeletal muscle and in serum were measured.Result:(1) In skeletal muscle,the GSH-PX activity of C group was very remarkably higher than A group(P<0.01),and D group was very remarkably higher than B group(P<0.01);the SOD activity of C group was remarkably higher than A group(P<0.05),and D group was very remarkably higher than B group(P<0.01).In serum,the MDA content of C group was very remarkably lower than A group(P<0.01),and D group was very remarkably lower than B group(P<0.01);the SOD activity of C group was very remarkably higher than A group(P<0.01),and D group was remarkably higher than B group(P<0.05).(2) In skeletal muscle, the TNF-αcontent of D group was very remarkably lower than B group(P<0.01);the IL-6 content of C group was remarkably lower than A group (P<0.05),and D group was very remarkably lower than B group(P<0.01).Conclusion:(1) Applying Qizheng Qingpeng Ointment can reduce the MDA content of trained rats in serum at rest and immediately after exhaustive swimming obviously,at the same time enhance the GSH-PX activity in skeletal muscle and the SOD activity in skeletal muscle and in serum.These indicate that Qizheng Qingpeng Ointment has certain antioxidation.(2) Applying Qizheng Qingpeng Ointment can reduce the TNF-αand IL-6 content of trained rats in skeletal muscle at rest and immediately after exhaustive swimming obviously.These indicate that Qizheng Qingpeng Ointment has certain effect on slowing down the inflammatory reaction in skeletal muscle.
