Objective This research paper explore the relationship between state of an illness changes of patients with acute cerebral infarction and the vascular endothelial cell function through observering dynamic changes of vascular von Willebrand factor (vWF) and serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) level in the peripheral blood plasma of patients with different cerebral infarction stages .Methods We selected and divided forty-six patients with acute cerebral infarction into three different groups of mild, medium and heavy type according to revised Edinburgh and Scandinavian Stroke Scale. Meanwhile we divided all patients into two groups of massive infarction and non-massive infarction based on cerebral infarction area. By detecting and analysing the relationships between plasma vWF and serum VEGF level dynamic changes of onset 2d, 7d and 14d with neurological score and infarct size of patients with acute cerebral infarctin and thirty healthy persons as control group, We explored endothelial Cell Function of the Patient with Acute Cerebral Infarction. The persons seleceted as control group would exclude those who have the history of stroke and coronary heart disease, kidney, liver, blood system diseases and all kinds of tumor. They didn't take any anticoagulant, antiplatelet, thrombolytic and antihypertensive drugs as well as hypoglycemic agents recently. Plasma vWF was determined by immunoturbidimetric assay and serum VEGF was determined by double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA) method. Results Our results showed that plasma vWF and serum VEGF levels of cerebral infarction group in onset 2d,7d and 14d were higher than those of control group( p<0.01 ). The plasma vWF of cerebral infarction group in second day was significantly higher than those in the 7d and 14d (p <0.01).While the serum VEGF levels of cerebral infarction group in seven day was significantly higher than those in 2d and 14 d (p<0.01).The plasma vWF and serum VEGF levels of heavy type group was higher than those of mild and medium type groups (vWF: p<0.05; VEGF: p <0.05).The plasma vWF and serum VEGF levels of massive infarction group was significantly higher than non-massive infarction group (vWF: p <0.01; VEGF: p <0.01).Conclusion The plasma vWF and serum VEGF levels of patients with cerebral infarction were significantly increased, which is interrelate nearly to the period of cerebral infarction and cerebral infarction area, suggesting that endothelial cell injury and repair maybe participate in the early pathophysiology process of cerebral infarction.
