Study On HIV Knowledge, Attitude And Behavior Among Migrant Fertile Women In Minhang District | | Posted on:2010-03-06 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:H M Zhang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2144360275491940 | Subject:Public Health | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | 1.The HIV KAP intervention study in the migrant fertile women in the Transient Population Family-planning Service CenterObjective:To improve their HIV knowledge,Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) knowledge and willingness,to change their behaviors and to reduce the HIV infection risk by teaching the migrant fertile women HIV knowledge and interventing their behaviors,in the Transient Population Family-planning Service Center.Methods:An epidemiology intervention study was implemented in the Transient Population Family-planning Service Center of Minhang District.The convenient sampling method was adopted to carry out the questionnaires survey(the baseline and the final).After the 1-year intervention,the intervention effectiveness was evaluated by comparing the participants' HIV knowledge,attitude,behaviors,VCT knowledge and willingness before and after the intervention.Results:During the questionnaires survey(the baseline and the final),four hundred participants was inquired respectively.Baseline survey indicated that,most migrant fertile women lived with their husbands and didn't change their dwelling place frequently.Only 9%of the participants often used condoms last month.Only 1%thought it was possible for them to be infected HIV.Free VCT was known by 38.8%,and 49.7%participants knew the VCT service,but they didn't know where to get the service.61.3%of the participants accepted the VCT service after they were informed that VCT was free.Logistic regression analysis show:the higher their education degree was,the more they knew HIV knowledge.The high HIV prevention awareness of condoms and choosing condoms as contraception method promoted the participants to use condoms.The participants who had more HIV knowledge and knew VCT were more likely to accept VCT service.After the intervention,the participants kept more HIV knowledge than pre-intervention.The awareness of thinking to be infected by HIV(4.8%) increased obviously compared to pre-intervention(P<0.05,).The rate of using condoms went up to 12.8%at the final survey.64.8%of the participants acknowledge the VCT,69.1%could gave the answer of the testing location,and VCT willingness(82.8%) went up obviously,and 2 participants accepted free VCT service. Conclusions:The intervention in the Transient Population Family-planning Service Center increased the migrant fertile women's related HIV knowledge, condoms using,VCT knowledge and willingness.Carrying out HIV intervention in the Transient Population Family-planning Service Center is an effective way to protect migrant fertile women from being infected by HIV.2.The HIV KAP observational study in the migrant fertile women in the physical examination clinic of the Community Medical Service CenterObjective:To know the migrant fertile women's HIV KAP,VCT knowledge and willingness and the change without direct intervention,in the Community Medical Service Center.Methods:This study was an observed study.The study site was the physical examination clinic of the Community Medical Service Center of Xinzhuang of Minhang District.The objects of study were 15-49 year-old migrant fertile women who attended exams in the physical examination clinic.The convenient sampling method was adopted to in the twice cross-sectional survey.The HIV KAP,VCT knowledge and willingness of the participants in the baseline and final survey without direct intervention were evaluated.Results:631 and 656 participants were visited in the baseline and final survey respectively.The first cross-sectional survey indicated that,the migrant fertile women who came to the physical examination clinic less lived with their husbands or boyfriends and often change their dwelling place,35.1%unmarried participants have ever had sexual activities,VCT knowledge rate was low(46.9%),62.g%accepted the VCT service after they were informed that VCT was free.Logistic regression analysis show that the participants who had more HIV knowledge,and who were more aware of being infected HIV and knew VCT more were more likely to accept VCT service.The second survey indicate that,without direct intervention,the HIV knowledge, VCT knowledge(50.5%) and willingness(66.9%) of the migrant fertile women who came to the physical examination clinic increased a little,which was not statistical significant).The rate of condoms used by unmarried participants in the latest sexual activity(52.0%) was higher compared to 1 year ago(44.4%),but it was not a big distance.The rate of condom used in the latest sexual action in married participants (25.5%) was similar to 1 year ago(24.8%).Conclusions:The sexual activities rate among the unmarried migrant fertile women was high,but the rate of condoms using was comparatively low.Both the free VCT knowledge and willingness among the migrant fertile women were low.Without direct intervention,the HIV KAP and VCT knowledge and willingness among the migrant fertile women increased slightly during last year. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Migrant Fertile Women, HIV Knowledge, Attitude, Behavior, Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT), Intervention study, Observational study | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
