Background and purpose:Distal radius fracture is one of the most common fractures which accounting for 1/6 of all fractures. There are various treatment methods for distal radius fracture.Nowadays, outcome assessment has become important in evaluating the efficacy of surgical procedures. In accordance with this, most orthopaedic surgeons are now of the opinion that a proper outcome assessment should be performed after any form of surgery. How to choice an appropriate, reliable, responsive and easy outcome assessment? This study evaluates 10 patients with distal radius fracture using DASH score(disability of shoulder, arm and hand questionnaire), the PRWE score(patient-rated wrist evaluation questionnaire),the Levine's carpal tunnel questionnaire and the Gartland and Werley score, and objective analyses of their features.Method:We get 10 patients,5 male and 5 female with the age between 31 and 71. According to AO / ASIF classification, there are 5 case of A type,2 case of B type,3 case of C type. They were subjected to surgical treatment, including fixation with plaster external fixation in 1 patient, with internal fixation in 4 patients, with external fixation in l patient and with external fixation combined with internal fixation in 4 patients. We evaluate 10 patients with distal radius fracture using DASH score(0-100), the PRWE score(0-100),the Levine's carpal tunnel questionnaire(1-5) and the Gartland and Werley score(four levels:excellent, good, fair, poor).Result:DASH score,5 case between 0-20.00,5 case between 20.01-40.00; Levine's carpal tunnel questionnaire,9 case between 1.00-2.00,1 case between 2.01-3.00;Gartland and Werley score,8 case at good level,2 case at fair level;PRWE score,2 case between 0-20.0,8 case between 20.5-40.0.Conclusion:The DASH score is the best instrument for evaluating patients with disorders involving multiple joints or multiple injury of the upper limb.Levine's carpal tunnel questionnaire is a disease-specific outcome instrument for carpal tunnel syndrome. The Gartland and Werley score is used for whom want to know the comprehensive understanding of distal radius fracture patients with clinical efficacy and function and pain related symptoms. The PRWE score is the most responsive instrument for evaluating the outcome in patients with simple distal radius fractures.
