Background and Objective:Primary hyperparathyroidism is caused from the diseases of parathyroid glands themselves because of excreting too much parathyroid hormone,and then lead to disturbance of calcium,phsophor and bone metabolism.It is a systemic disease which is expressedby bone illness with growing bony absorbance, kidney stones,hypercalcemia and hypophosphatemia,can involve every organ in the body.It happens less in China,but more in Euro- American countries.From September 2004 to November 2007 there were 9 patients of PHPT who were admitted in The First Affiliated Hospital,College of Medicine,Zhejiang University.The object of this work isto report a personal observation of nine PHPT and review the literatures to clarify the epidemiological,clinical,radiological,pathological and therapeutic aspects of this disease.Patients and Methods:9 patients were analyzed,who were admitted in The First Affiliated Hospital,College of Medicine,Zhejiang University from September 2004 to November 2007.AT the same time,the epidemiological,clinical,radiological, pathological,immunohistochemical features were examined and then were retrospectively analyzed. Results:The 9 patients all had surgical excisions and were verified suffering PHPT through pathological examinations.Two of them were men,seven of them were women, the age span was from to 29 to 70 years old,the average age was 48 years old.Five patients suffered from single parathyroid adenoma,three patients suffered from parathyroid hyperplasia,one patient suffered from parathyroid carcinoma recurrence.Conclusions:The early symptom of PHPT is not typical,with clinical,laboratory examination and radiological,the misdiagnosis of the disease is reduced,the correct diagnosis is boosted.Surgical therapy is the only effective way to cure the PHPT at the present time.
