OBJECTIVES: To investigate pre-and postoperative clinical characteristics of optical coherence tomography(OCT) and the dark adaptation electroretinogram(ERG) in macular-off uncomplicated rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and analyze the correlation of it and visual acuity.METHODS: One hundred and two patients ( 102eyes )with uncomplicated rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in volved in macula undergoing retinal reattachment surgery were collected , and cross sectional images of macula with OC T and the amplitudes and the latency times of a wave and b wave about the dark adaptation electroretinogram at preoperation, 1 week, 3months after the operation were observed and the relationships between the above with visual acuity were evaluated .RESULTS: (1)The amplitude and implicit of the dark adaptation electroretinogram and retinal thickness + detachment thickness of OCT in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment( RRD) group changed obviously before operation, the difference was significant between the RRD group and control group (P < 0.05). (2)There was significantly difference in all observed parameters between 1 week after operation and preoperation ( P < 0. 05) , and the corresponding best-corrected visual acuity was obviously improved, which improved above 2 lines was 49.0%;there was significantly difference in all observed parameters between 1 week and 3 months after operation ( P < 0. 05) , and the corresponding best-corrected visual acuity was obviously improved, which improved above 2 lines was 80.4% .(3)Correlation analysis was processed between the retinal thickness + detachment thickness before operation and visual acuity(r=-0.8412, P<0.01), which suggested that the higher the detachment thickness ,the worse the visual acuity was;Correlation analysis was processed between the amplitudes of b wave before operation and visual acuity in 3 months after operation(r=0.7818, P<0.01) , which suggested that the higher the amplitudes , the better the effect was.CONCLUSION: (1)OCT and ERG can provide the help for evaluating severity and predicting visual recovery after rhegmatgenous retinal detachment surgery.(2)OCT and ERG can provide important information in diagnosis and treatment processes, its clinical value cannot be ignored.
