All ceramic materials are considered as the most ideal dental material and become widespread in clinical application, because they have the properties of aesthetics, biocompatibility, longevity and wear resisting. But traditional all ceramic materials have the problem of weak mechanical properties, insufficient rupture strength and low fracture toughness. So they could only be used for inlay, onlay and laminate veneer, with limited application. With development of dental materials, the mechanical strength of ceramic improves, and it can meet the clinical demand. Therefore, the application of all ceramic restorations ranges from inlay, laminate veneer in the past to full crown, fixed bridge, even superstructure of implant denture. Usually, resin luting agent is used for cementing all ceramic restorations to teeth, because resin luting agent surpass traditional cement in bonding strength and stress transmission. The bonding between ceramic and resin become a key question to improve the longevity of all ceramic restorations. Many factors influence the bonding between ceramic and resin, and the surface treatment is the primary factor. And the treating methods depend on the component and structure of the ceramic. There are commonly two ways to treat the ceramic surface: mechanical method and chemical method. The former includes mechanical fininsh, sand blast, etching, laser photoetching. The latter contains the treatment of silicane coupling agent, et al.IPS e.max Press is a new kind of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic ingot for the press technique. The time of its clinical application is not so long. So it is not clear that how to treat the kind of ceramic could improve the bond strength with resin. Thus, further study is required to guide clinical use. This study adopted a dual-curing luting composite system Panavia F and IPS e.max Press (lithium disilicate glass-ceramic ingot for the press technique). Shear bond strength test was used to analyze the bond strength. By comparing the influence of different treating factor to the bond strength, evaluate the bonding effect between IPS e.max Press and luting composite system. And the study could supply theory basis to clinical decision. The study included three parts. In the first experiment, IPS e.max Press was etched by 5% HF and 10% HF for 0-180s. Then the bond strength between IPS e.max Press and luting composite system was tested by Shear bond strength test. The data was analyzed statistically. The micro morphous was watched by SEM. The influence of different HF concentration and different etching time on the bond strength of IPS e.max Press was evaluated. In the second experiment, IPS e.max Press was silanized by silane coupling agent and etched by 5% HF for 0-180s. And then the bond strength between Panavia F and IPS e.max Press was tested. Statistical analysis was done, and the micro morphous was watched by SEM. The influence of etching coupling with silane coupling agent on the bond strength between IPS e.max Press and resin luting cement was discussed. In the last experiment, two commonly used silane coupling agent (Porcelain Bond Activator/SE Bond Primer dual-agent silane coupling agent and Ceramic Primer silane coupling agent) treated the surface of ceramic, and 5% HF etched IPS e.max Press for 0-180s. The bond strength between Panavia F -6- and IPS e.max Press was tested, and statistically analyzed. The micro morphous was scoped by SEM. The influence of the applyment of the two coupling agent to the bond strength was compared.According the research, following conclusions could be obtained:1. The best bond strength could be achieved by 5% HF etching for 60s or 10% HF etching for 20s, reaching 31.18 MPa and 32.90 MPa separately. It proves that different etching time is required when etching the ceramic with different HF concentration.2. The best bond strength could be obtained by 5% HF etching from 10s to 60s with silane coupling agent. Using coupling agent after HF etching could improve the bond strength, and could achieve ideal bond strength in a short time.3. The highest bond strength could be achieved by 5% HF etching for 30s coupling with the two silane coupling agent system, reaching 35.16MP and 30.23MPa respectively. But the bond strength achieved by using PA silane coupling agent is obviously higher than that by using CP silane coupling agent.
