Objective:To investigate the expression of E-cadherin andβ-catenin in the villus and decidua in early spontaneous aborters.Methods:By immunohistochemistry method(S-P) and microscope image analysis system, the average optical density(AOD) and integrated optical density(IOD) of E-cadherin andβ-catenin was detected in the villus and decidua from 20 early spontaneous aborters and 24 normal early pregnant women.Results:The expression of E-cadherin andβ-catenin was found in villus and decidua in the two groups. The AOD and IOD of E-cadherin andβ-catenin was substantially higher than that of early pregnant women in cytotrophoblasts and decidual stroma cells (P<0.01). Conclusion:It suggested E-cadherin andβ-catenin should play an important role in the maintaining of normal pregnancy. The increased expression of E-cadherin andβ-catenin in the villus and decidua might be one of the major reasons to result in early spontaneous abortions.
