Anrenatal Diagnosis By Ultrasound And The Outcome Of Antenatal Hydronephrosis

Antenatal hydronephrosis was the most common type of fetal abnormities in the prenatal diagnosis by ultrasound. At present, there was not a unified diagnostic code about antenatal hydronephrosis. The degree of hydronephrosis classified by antero-posterior diameter (APD) characterized the antenatal hydronephrosis data across most of the studies. Some people also prefered to diagnose hydronephrosis by other ultrasound findings, such as renal calycealdilation, renal echogenicity, parenchymal thinning, bladder dilation, amniotic fluid level and so on. The outcome of antenatal hydronephrosis was determined by the etiopathogenisis of hydronephrosis and when to hydronephrosis appeared. Most of antenatal hydronephrosis due to physiological abnormality or disfunction would recover shortly after birth. viable infants diagnosed slight or moderate antenatal hydronephrosis would be followed up until birth and then be treated adequately. And the cases who had clear etiopathogenisis and therapeutic value or requirement might choose termination of pregnancy to accept therapy or choose therapy in uterus. Nevertheless, the cases who were diagnosed severe antenatal hydronephrosis before viable infants, or combining chromosomal abnormality or other system abnormity always had bad outcome, and it was better to choose termination of pregnancy as soon as possible.Ultrasound as one of the reduplicate, not vulnerarious, safe and cheap imaging methods was the first choice for antenatal diagnosis. We could find the abnormality of antenatal urinary system by ultrasound, determine when antenatal hydronephrosis appeared and the lesion of renal function,and infer the outcome of antenatal hydronephrosis. So it could provid evidences of evidence-based medicine for docters to deal antenatal hydronephrosis.
