[Objective] To study the expression ofβ-catenin and Axin in the adjacent tissue of carcinoma and human gasteric carcinoma tissue and their correlations, and their clinic pathology in human gasteric carcinoma.[Methods] A total of 60 paraffin–embedded gasteric carcinoma and 20 adjacent tissue of cancer were studied by Streptavidin Peroxdase Conjugataed Immunohistochemistry to detect the protein expression status ofβ-catenin and Axin .The relation was analyzed among the protein expression and age, TNM stage, histological classification, cell differentiation and lymphatic metastasis. And detect the relationship of the two factors'expression.[Results] The positive expression rate of Axin was 80% in adjacent tissue of cancer,in contrast(55.0%) in gasteric carcinoma(P<0.001). InⅠ,ⅡandⅢ,Ⅳstage gasteric carcinoma,The positive expression rate of Axin was 80.0%,52.6%,42.3%,and there was a significant difference(P=0.011). There was a significant difference between early and late stage gasteric carcinoma in the positive expression rate of Axin . The positive expression rate of Axin was42.3% in case with lymph node metastasis,in contrast 64.7%in cases without lymph node metastasis (P=0.015).It indicate the positive expression rate of Axin is correlated with lymph node metastasis. The nuclear expression rate ofβ-catenin was 26.7% .There was a significant difference inβ-catenin expression between gasteric carcinoma(26.7% )and adjacent tissue of cancer(90%)( P<0.001). The nuclear or cytoplasm expression rate was 73.3% regards as the cell membrane expression to reduce. In Well differentiated gasteric carcinomaβ-catenin showd a reduced expression rate 63.2%,in moderately differentiated gasteric carcinomaβ-catenin showd a reduced expression rate 66.7% and in poorly differentiated gasteric carcinomaβ-catenin showd a reduced expression rate 90.0%. There was a significant difference inβ-catenin expression among well ,moderately and poorly, differentiated gasteric carcinoma (P=0.006). The expression ofβ-catenin in poorly differentiated gasteric carcinoma was much lower than in well or moderately differentiated gasteric carcinoma.Reducedβ-catenin expression rate was 84.6% in case with lymph node metastasis, while 64.7%in cases without lymph node metastasis (P=0.019). The positive expression rate of Axin inβ-catenin nuclear expressed gasteric carcinoma was 20.0%,much lower than cases without nuclear expressed 67.0% in this study(P<0.001)。.[Conclusion] The positive expression of Axin is associated with TNM stage and lymph node positive human gasteric carcinoma .The reduced membranous expression ofβ-catenin is associated with poorly differentiated and lymph node positive human gasteric carcinoma. . The expression of Axin is inversely correlated with nuclear expression rate ofβ-catenin.
