Contour Integration Deficits In Ametropia Amblyopia

Object: To detect whether ametropia amblyopes have contour integration deficits . In this study, these ametropia amblyopia with contour integration deficits were conducted by the perceptual learning training , to observe ametropia amblyopia who had contour integration deficits is improving in contour integration ; its stereopsis is progressing or not ; accordingly whether their eyesight has improved.Method: In 30 cases(60 eyes)of healthy people,to examina their contour detection thresholds . Contour detection thresholds, visual acuity , were measured in a group of 68 cases(136 eyes) newly diagnosed middle degree ametropia amblyopes before initiation of therapy, There were 61 cases(98 eyes)who have abnormal integration contour . These 61 cases were treated with titmus and Yan Shao-ming, "three-dimensional visual inspection map" to check their near stereoacuity and the same as the machine checks its far stereopsis. And these abnormalities were randomly divided into two groups, then the contour integration of the perceptual learning training was done for the one of the groups .Result: Significant abnormal in contour detection thresholds were present in 61 cases(98 eyes)of the 68 cases(136 eyes) patients with middle degree ametropia amblyopia,abnormal rate was 72.0%. Through the Perceptual learning training, contour detection threshold had a great progress in 19 cases (28 eyes) of 30 cases (46 eyes),efficiency rate was 60.9%, compare with the non-training group which have statistically significant difference;its near stereoacuity compare with the non-training group which have statistically significant difference too; Correspondingly,its vision had improved,the average added to 2.2 line.Conclusion:1 Contour integration deficits are a common, but not universal, finding in untreated middle degree ametropia amblyopia.2 Through the Perceptual learning training, contour detection threshold had a great progress ,the contour integration deficits were repaired.3 Through the Perceptual learning training ,binocular vision have also been improved.4 Through the Perceptual learning training ,their vision has been correspondingly improved.
