Objective:To investigate the association between the apolipoproteinM(apoM) -778T/C polymorphism and premature coronary heart disease. Methods:Using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP),we analyzed the genotype and allele distribution in 45 patients with premature coronary heart disease diagnosed by coronary angiography and 60 healthy controls. The levels of serumlipid profiles were also studied by biochemicalmethods. Results:The allele frequency of apoM-778T/C polymorphism in the premature coronary heart disease group was significantly higher(18.9%vs 7.5%,P=0.0024) than that in the control group. In premature coronary heart disease group, the total cholesterol(TC) level in TTgenotypes was significantly lower than those in TC+CC genotypes and the high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) level in TTgenotypes was significantly higher than those in TC+CC genotypes. Conclusion:These results suggest that apoM gene polymorphisms is association with the occurrence and development of early-onset CHD and it affects the plasma lipid levels.
