ObjectiveExplore the relationship between yang deficiency syndrome of TCM and thyroid hormone variability in patients with CHF .we expect the results of the study can provide the objective basis' for yang deficiency syndrome of TCM, and help to judge condition for patients with CHF.MethodsQualified the 120 cases of patients with CHF, collect the patients' clinical datas such as name, sex, age, medical history, symptoms, tongue and pulse condition by the four examination techniques as inspection, olfaction and auscultation , inquiry, palpation. As the symptoms, tongue and pulse condition as the basis ,the syndrome differentiation, symptom accumulated points and condition classification of TCM for the patients are carried on according to Chinese medicine clinical research guiding principles. Then the 120 patients with CHF were tested the serum FT3, FT4, TSH. In the same time, 40 healthy human were observed as contrast.Results1. Compared with normal control group, FT3 in the patients with yang-deficiency CHF was lower than in the healthy human , the difference was significant statistical significance (P <0.05),FT4 and TSH are normal (P >0. 05).2. The accumulated points of yang-deficiency syndromes in patients with CHF was increased progressively in order of heart and kidney yang-deficiency syndrome , syndrome of edema caused by deficiency of yang and yin-yang exhaust, the differences were significant statistical significance (P<0. 05 ) .3. FT3 in patients with yang-deficiency syndromes CHF was decreased progressively in order of heart and kidney yang-deficiency syndrome , syndrome of edema caused by deficiency of yang and yin-yang exhaust, the differences were significant statistical significance (P <0. 05) , FT4 and TSH are normal (P >0.05) .4. FT3 in patients with yang-deficiency CHF was decreased progressively in order of the mild group , the moderate group, and the severe group, the differences were significant statistical significance (P<0. 05) , FT4 and TSH are normal (P >0.05).Conelusion1.FT3 in the patients with yang-deficiency CHF is lower than in the healthy human. As the condition is more serious , the FT3 is more lower. So the level of FT3 maybe can determine the severity of the yang-deficiency CHF .2. As yang-deficiency is more serious , the FT3 is more lower. So FT3 in the patients with CHF may be used as one objective basis for the yang-deficiency syndrome of TCM, and it can be used to as the reference for the syndrome differentiation of TCM for the patients with CHF.
