ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical effect of the approach to improve the excretion of toxins with traditional Chinese medicine,by observing the changes of indexes, including the serum uric acid level, uric acid, urine pH,serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride and serum glucose before and after the treatment with formula of traditional Chinese medicine with the effect of improving the excretion of toxins, allopurinol and benzbromarone in treating hyperuricemia partly.Methods167 patients with hyperuricemia were randomly chosen into three groups, which were traditional Chinese medicine group, the allopurinol group and the benzbromarone group. The patients in traditional Chinese medicine group were treated with the formula of traditional Chinese medicine with the effect of improving the excretion of toxins, decocted in water for oral use, twice a day mane et vespere, after meals. The allopurinol group was administered allopurinol tablet,100mg one time, three times a day, after meals. The benzbromarone group was treated with benzbromaron tablet,50mg one time, once a day after breakfast. The therapeutic course for the three groups was 4 weeks. The observing index includes the serum uric acid level, urine uric acid, urine pH,serum total cholesterol, and serum triglyceride and serum glucose, comparing the above indexes before and after treatment and evaluating the clinical effects of the three groups.Results167 cases of hyperuricemia were devided into three groups, the group with traditional Chinese medicine treatment(n=58),the allopurinol group(n=53) and the benzbromarone group(n=56).The three groups have the comparability prior to the treatment,as the differences in gender, age, the serum uric acid level, urine uric acid, urine pH,serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride and serum glucose are not statistically significant(P>0.05).In the traditional Chinese medicine treatment group, results were:18 cases excellence,25 cases in effect,15 cases without effect. The total effective rate was 74.1%.In the allopurinol group,21 cases were excellence,27 cases in effective,5 cases without effect. The total effective rate was 90.6%. In the benzbromarone group,25 cases were excellence,23 cases in effect,8 cases without effect. The total effective rate was 85.7%.The three groups were in therapeutic equivalence and not statistically significant in the clinical effects. In the other observation index, both of the traditional Chinese medicine treatment and the benzbromarone can improve the excretion of uric acid. The former can also raise the urine pH,lowering the total cholesterol, serum triglyceride, while allopurinol cannot. The three groups have no effects on the serum glucose.ConclusionThe approach to improve the excretion of toxin with traditional Chinese medicine have the efficacy of improving the excretion of the uric acid, raising the urine pH and lowing the serum uric acid level. Also,it can bring down the level of blood-fat,no obvious side effect. Therefore, the approach to improve the excretion of toxin with traditional Chinese medicine is one of the effective choice in the treatment of hyperuricemia.
