Tumor is one of the major diseases which are harmful to human life, and the principles of its growth and suppression are considered to be an important study element in both bio-medical and other interdisciplinary research. This paper focused on the gross tumor volume and studied the principles of the tumor growth suppression in cancer treated by radiotherapy alone;the practical methods of calculating gross tumor volume ;analysis of the dynamics changes of tumor volume in the progress of radiation therapy. The main contents are as follows:1. Studied the application of ImageJ software in tumor volume measurement. The volume is one of the measurable and reliable observation variables in the evolution of radiation oncology. Two commonly used clinical tumor volume measurements that we usually used have certain defects:the inaccuracy of three-axis formula measurement;lack of repeatability of TPS target outlined measurement which is also time-consuming and labor-intensive. In this paper, the ImageJ software was used in image segmentation and measurement of tumor. It achieved an accurate segmentation and measurement for some lung tumors by organic combination and interactive use of some partitioning algorithms such as handling threshold and morphological image processing. The preparation of macro language and the application of stack technology were used in the progress of automatic operation of image segmentation and measurement of tumor to reduce the human-computer interaction .2.Measured and analyzed the evolution of tumor volume in Radiotherapy. By means of screening on a lot of lung cancer cases in clinical radiation therapy, we got 5 cases of lung cancer with complete information of medical screenage and in accordance with our research needs and measured the volume change, then the correlation analysis for dynamic evolution of tumor volume in radiotherapy were performed. 3.Made a simplified model of evolution about tumor volume in radiotherapy. There were many researches of tumor natural growth model, but only a few of them were considered with the factors of radiotherapy or chemotherapy, among which less were referred to the factor of radiotherapy only. In this paper, a simplified model of tumor growth and suppression was established, based on the Logistic model and the radiation biological effect, and it ,to some extent ,reflected the trend tumor volume in the process of radiation therapy and would have reference value on the treatment of Clinical Oncology.In this paper, the study about the evolution of tumor radiotherapy model have not to involve in other complicated factors of tumor growth, such as the angiogenesis and the anoxia and so on. So, the model should to be expanded and penetrated.
