[Objective]: To analyze the clinicopathological characteristics of Patients with invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast, and explore the regularity and characteristics.[Methods]: There were 68 eligible patients with primary ILC diagnosed and surgically treated in the First Hospital of JiLin University from January 2001 to December 2006. We analyzed their distribution of age, Menstrual status , tumor position, Ultrasonic performance, Mammography, TNM staging and Immunohistochemistry status and so on. These records were compared with relevant information of IDC.[Results]: The peak frequency was in 40-49 years of age, 29 patients in total (42.7%), the next was in 50-59 years of age, 16 cases(23.5%). The ages ranged from 30 to 79. The average age was 50. 2. The number of premenopausal patients was 39 (57.4%), and the postmenopausal was 29 (42.6%); Protoplasmic tumor in the left side: 31 cases (45.6%), that in the right side: 35 cases (51.5%), in both sides: 2 cases (2.9%). In most cases, protoplasmic tumors were in the upper outer quadrant. Preoperative ultrasonography were 4 cases of positive performance, and X-ray mammography in 12 cases, 11 cases of positive performance. Patients were staged in accordance with AJCC, 8 (12.9%) patients were in stage I,37 (59.7%) were in stage II, 17 (27.4%) cases were in stage III. Immunohistochemical situation showed that the 55 (87.3%) patients were ER positive, 56 (88.9%) patients were PR positive, and 14 (22.2%) patients were HER-2 positive. Compared with IDC in age distribution, menstrual status, tumor size, there were no difference between them(P>0.05). But there were significant differences in axillary lymph node-positive rate, positive rate of ER, PR and HER-2(P<0.05).[Conclusion]: The peak frequency of ILC was in 40-49 years of age, followed by the 50-59 years of age. It was the overall incidence of breast cancer in line with the age structure. Sometimes the performance of Mammography was not typical. Comprehensive using of ultrasound and X-ray mammography for imaging was contributed to a definite diagnosis. In clinical staging, stage II was the largest number of cases. When comparing ILC with IDC, we found they had no notable differences in terms of age distribution, menstrual situation and tumor size. Normally ILC showed higher expression of ER, PR and lower expression of HER-2. There were significant differences between them. Endocrine therapy could benefit.
