Expression Of Survivin In Lesions Of Patients With Psoriasis Vulgaris

[Objective] : As a specific anti-apoptosis protein , survivin is expressed in many tumor tissues and proneoplastic tissue. To investigate the expression of survivin in benign proliferative cutaneous lesions , We detect the expression of survivin in epidermis of psoriasis vulgaris.We also detect the expression of bcl-2 in epidermis of psoriasis vulgaris.[Materials and Method] Thirty-eight pasoriasis vulgaris, diagnosed by clinic and histopathology,derived from the department of dermatology ,Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from 2004 to 2005,including 23 active stage patients and 15 stable patients.14 normal skin specimens collected from trama patients of surgery department were taken as normal controls.There was no significant difference in sexes, ages and locus of biopsy between controls and patients. The expression of apoptosis inhibitor protein surviving was detected by immunohistochemical SP method.[Results] : Survivin was found in the lesions of 36 patients with psoriasis, but not in the normal skin; expression of survivin was higher in active stage than that in stable phase.Bcl-2 was only found in the lesions of 4 patients with psoriasis, but 12 in the normal skin of 14 people.[Conclusion] : Survivin expression is observed in psoriasis vulgaris. It is suggested that survivin, as an anti-apoptosis protein perhaps involves the origination and development of psoriasis vulgaris.bcl-2 is lower in the lesions of patients with psoriasis, it is suggested that there still exists some apoptosis in the lesions of psoriasis.
