Aim:To evaluate the clinical application of pyramidal tractography in hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhage.Methods:8 patients(4men,4women, aged 30~59years,mean age 47.25years) with hypertensive intracerebral haemorrhage were examined by MR diffusion tensor imaging. All data were transferred to a personal computer and were processed with Volume- one and dTV (Tokyo University Japan). Karnofsky Performance Scales(KPS) were evaluated 6 months after stroke. Results:White matter fiber tracts of internal capsule in all patients could be observed clearly. The diffusion tensor tracking can clearly show the compression, displacement and disruption of the pyramidal tracts after haemorrhage. All patients were followed up after 6 months. The relationship between the effective numbers of tract bundles and the KPS was analysed by correlation Conclusion:pyramidal tractography is a useful technique for showing pyramidal tracts, observing their shape changes stereographically, evaluating their relationship with intracerebral hematomas in vivo and reflecting the prognosis.
