Keloid is a Pathological scar which is secondary to skin damage, it is the feature that fibrous connective tissue within the dermis stilly continues to proliferation after wound healing, and extracellular matrix (ECM) such asΙtype of procollagen is excessive deposition. It is the characteristics that invasive growth and relapse easy after a simple surgical resection. In addition to the impact of appearance, but also the keloid is accompanied by itching and pain, if in joints it will affect function, so the keloid brings greatly suffering to patients. Due to the complexity of pathogenic mechanisms, there is no ideal treatment. The pathogenesis of keloids is not entirely clear, most scholars believe that its occurrence is related to the genetic susceptibility of the individual, in addition related to the complex regulation between the cells and cells, cells and cytokines, cytokine and cytokine, it will lead to the formation of keloids that any link regulation is imbalance. because of its unclear pathogenesis, the current treatment is mostly symptomatic treatment, there is no specific treatment. The current treatments of keloids are many, such as surgery, drug injection, radiotherapy, laser, silicone gel, such as compression and refrigeration, various methods have their advantages and disadvantages and some indications, but single treatment effect is not ideal, the relapse rate high, such as simple surgical treatment of keloids, a high recurrence rate is almost 100%, Not only that, but the recurrence of keloids after resection are more expanded than the former; the efficient rate of hormone therapy alone is up to 50% ~100%, and the recurrence rate is 9% ~50%, but there are inevitable complications: atrophy or pigment organization receded, mild obesity, strong hair growth, etc.; most cases, radiotherapy alone can only reduce the symptoms and inhibit the further development of lesions, cure rate is only 27.0%. Another treatment is combination therapy, the surgery, radiotherapy, drug injection, freezing, laser, silicone gel, such as the use of combined therapy or triple or even quadruple to treat the keloid, in order to enhance the effectiveness of treatment. Objective: To evaluate clinical efficacy of the surgical excision combined with postoperative electron beam radiotherapy for keloid. Methods: September 2006-March 2008, 79 cases of patients with keloid who visited to Jilin University, China-Japan United Hospital's dermatology clinic for study. They were divided into surgery group, glucocorticoid injection group and the surgical excision combined with postoperative electron beam radiotherapy group randomly. The surgery group was taked surgery alone. The glucocorticoid injection group was taked De Baosong injection treatment. The surgical excision combined with postoperative electron beam radiotherapy group was taked 6Mev electron irradiation after surgery excision early. Results: 79 cases of keloid patients (a total of 99 lesions) completed the treatment and follow-up of more than 1 year. Total effective rate of surgery was 4.00%, total effective rate of glucocorticoid injection was 69.57%, total effective rate of surgery excision combined with electron irradiation was 93.55% (p<0.05).Conclusion: 1. A simple surgical treatment of keloids is taboo. 2. surgery excision combined with electron irradiation to treat the keloids had significant efficacy, relapse rate was low and was the more effective method.
