Study Of The Christian's Medical Enterprise On Women In China (1840-1949)

After 1840, following with the Western firm ship and sharp artillery's knocking at the gate, simultaneously there came the Christianity Protestantism missionary. Although their main purpose is to disseminate religious, or gains politics economic interest for the West from China, but they acted objectively as the main media of modern cultural exchange between China and the West .In the process of"Penetrates eastward"in the modern West medicine. The Protestantism missionary introduced advanced western medicine theory and medical technology to China ,impacted on the traditional Chinese medicine idea , promoted the Chinese medicine dualization and modernization. At first the western medicine is one method which missionary used for missionary work, but the western medicine has brought the West advanced medical technology and the system objectively. At the same time Chinese medicine declines relatively day by day ,while there is a larger development of the Protestantism medical cause in China,The Protestantism missionary has given more attention to Chinese woman's medical service and health condition. Although western medical was one method which missionary used for missionary work at first, it plays a"bridge"role of exchange between the missionary and Chinese women. The missionaries realized that the importance of develops the woman health cause, which caused the missionaries to pour as far as possible energy to it. This article does some introductions and comparisons with the background of the medical development about Oriental countries and Western countries, The summary introduced the activities that done by missionary work doctor who dispatched by Christian church in China—setting up the woman hospital, establishing the female medicine school, training the female doctor ,practicing western medicine talented person , translating western medicine books and so on, analyzed the influence of the Christian church carrying on the woman health cause in China, conducting the research from this angle of view, thus deepened the understanding about the activities of the Christian church in China.
