Objective:To investigate the impact of oocyte quality and the outcome of electro-acupuncture treatment on the patients with asthenia of ovarian reserve undergoing in-vitro-fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET), and to explore the possible mechanism associated. Methods: Evaluated the evidence of asthenia of kidney and ovary function of the patients undergoing in-vitro-fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET), then sixty patients of asthenia of ovary function were randomly divided into two groups, 30 cases in the tested group and 30 cases in the controlled group. Both groups were offered gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist. Tested group additionally undergone electro-acupuncture treatment, compared with the controlled group. Observed the doses and days of gonadotrophin(Gn), thickness of endometrium on the hCG injecting day. Serum content of E2, FSH, LH and P were determined by chemistry luminescence analysis (CLA), and Stem cell facter (SCF) level of human serum and follicular fluid in 60 cases of IVF were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and then, compared the number of matured oocytes outcome, the rate of fertilization, high grade oocyte and embryo, cycle canceling rate. Results: 1. The symptoms and signs of the tested group had been significantly improved afer treatment, the rate of fertilization, high grade oocyte , rate of matured oocyte, and level of E2 on the hCG injecting day, there was remarkable difference between the two group (P<0.05). 2. SCF level of follicular fluid (FF) is higher than that serum (P<0.05).SCF level of pregnant patients were hisher than the patients who were not pregnant (P<0.05). SCF levels in human follicular can promote development of oocytes, and raise the potentiality fertilized ovums. 3. Compared the controlled group, the tested group have higher pregnancy and lower abortion rate, there was remarkable difference between the two groups ( P<0.05 ) . Conclusions: The effect of electro-acupuncture can modulate the function of integer and ovarian local circumstance of the patients who with asthenia ovary reserve undergoing IVF so as to improve the quality of oocyte and the outcome of pregnancy.
