Objective: TO reveal the treatment misunderstandings of anti-inflammatory and liver-protective therapy of chronic hepatitis B, and to observe the clinical effect of Gangrong decoction on chronic hepatitis B in ordrer to confirm that differential treatment should be insisted on to cure Chronic Hepatitis B.Methods: Clinical data of 160 cases of hepatitis B patients who used licorice agents, Schisandra agents, and silymarin agents was collected and statistically analyzed, and their clinical effects were summarized. Then patients who had accepted anti-inflammatory and liver-protective therapy were treated according to syndrome differentiation. Ganrong decoction makes its effect by invigorating spleen and soothing liver, relieving heat, eliminating dampness and dissipating phlegm, promoting blood flow and removing toxin, and was taken one dose everyday with treatment course of 3 months. Then the influence on five HBV immunological markers, HBV DAN quantitative detection, clinical symptoms, liver function and the impact of B-super were observed. Results: Anti-inflammatory and liver-protective drugs was able to reduce the level of ALT (P<0.01), but had no significant effect on the levels of AST, GGT and TBIL (P> 0.05). The reduction of ALT/AST, A and A/G, and increase of G were also observed (P<0.01). Liver Ultrasonic Images and clinical symptoms were aggravated (P <0.01). Study of differential treatment showed the total effective rate of the comprehensive efficacy was 89.4%, the effective rate in relieving clinical symptoms was 93%. Ganrong decoction could decrease the levels of ALT, AST, GGT, TBIL, G and increased the levels of A, ALT/AST, and A/G (P <0.01), and obviously ameliorate the liver function and liver B-super image (P <0.01). In the 100 cases of HBeAg positive patients, two cases became HBeAg negative, one case made HBeAg/anti-HBe serum conversion, and one case became HBV DNA negative. The average decent range of LogHBV DNA after treatment was 0.05 log copies / ml, without statistical significance (P> 0.05).Conclusion: Anti-inflammatory and liver-protective drugs have no exact clinical effect, and are unable to control or reverse the development of the disease effectively. Gangrong decoction can eliminate or reduce clinical symptoms effectively, ameliorate liver function, reduce liver inflammation and improve performances of liver image.
