| Objective: To investigate the expressions,relationships and clinical significance of AKT2,S100A4 and MMP-9 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Methods: Immunohistochemical technology(EliVision two steps) was applied to detect the expressions of AKT2,S100A4 and MMP-9 proteins in 50 cases of NPC tissue and 25 cases of chronic nasopharyngitis tissue,and to study the relationships of AKT2,S100A4 and MMP-9 proteins expressions with clinical features in patients with NPC,the correlations of three proteins expressions were also analyzed.Results:â‘ The positive rates of AKT2(48.0%,24/50),S100A4(52.0%,26/50) and MMP-9 proteins(74.0%,37/50) in NPC tissue were respectively higher than that in chronic nasopharyngitis tissue(8.0%,2/25),(0%,0/25),(36.0%,9/25),P <0.01,respectively;â‘¡The positive rates of AKT2 and S100A4 proteins were correlated with cervical lymph node metastases and clinical stage( P <0.05, respectively),the positive rate of MMP-9 protein was correlated with cervical lymph node metastases ( P <0.05),but the positive expressions of the three proteins were not correlated with patients'sex,age,T classification( P >0.05,respectively);â‘¢The expressions of AKT2 and S100A4 were positively correlated with MMP-9 protein in NPC(P <0.01),but the expression of AKT2 was not correlated with S100A4 protein.Conclusion: The high expressions of AKT2,S100A4 and MMP-9 proteins may play a significant role in the occurrence,development and metastasis of NPC, AKT2 and S100A4 may cooperate with the MMP-9 protein to promote the development and metastasis of NPC,it may have important clinic significance to predict the biological behavior and trend of metastasis of NPC when combining to detect the expressions of AKT2,S100A4 and MMP-9 proteins. |
