Pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil injection is main method in the management of complicated retinal detachments and display satisfactory effect. Many factors are associated with postoperative secondary glaucoma. Silicone oil glaucoma was defined as elevation of intraocular pressure due to silicone oil injection, or an oil-filled eye. Compared with other types of glaucoma, silicone oil glaucoma has it's own character. This article reviews incidence rate, risk factors, pathogenesis and clinical therapy of silicone oil glaucoma.
