OBJECTIVE:Tuberculosis is a respiratory contagion disease caused by tubercle bacillus, which is a serious common sanitation problem and threatens the development of economy construction and human civilization. The investigations of medical staff that infect the tubercle bacillus in our country have been done all by hospital. There are almost no investigations on tubercle bacillus infection among staffs who work for every level tuberculosis prevention stations.METHOD:Retrospective research has been adopted to investigate the incidence rate of tubercle bacillus infection among staffs who worked in tuberculosis prevention station in 130 countries and 14 cities of HuNan province in 1993 till 2005.At the same time,we use the case control study to investigate the difference among infected and uninfected persons and analyze affected factors of infection.RESULTS:We investigated the staff from the CDC in 130 countries and 14 cities of HuNan province(include the full-time and the part-time staff)from Jan.1st,1993 to Dec.30th,2005,include 13686 person-years in the departments of tuberculosis prevention and 14823 person-years in the departments of epidemiology. In the staff of tuberculosis prevention, there are 167 cases and the average incidence rate of TB is 1220/105.In the staff of epidemiology, there are 10 cases and the average incidence of TB is 67/105.The incidence rate of the tuberculosis in the staff of TB prevention is obviously higher than that in the epidemiology staff. The results of single factor analysis indicated that the incidence of tuberculosis in the staff of TB prevention is related to the age, work position, work years, area of work location and the averages number of the smear-position tuberculosis found patients in the tuberculosis prevention station. The results of work conditional logistic regression analysis indicated that the risk factors of tuberculosis infection include the work position and the average of number of the smear-position tuberculosis patient.CONCLUSIONS:There is obvious difference in incidence rate of tuberculosis infection between the people worked in TB prevention and in epidemiology position. It is available way to reduce the infection of tuberculosis to executing the strict rules, taking effective measures of prevention, and improving work condition.
