Objective: discuss the proportion of neck area in head&neck area.Objects: 109 children ranged from 3 to 12 years old in Changsha City, male: 58, female: 51, the average age is 7.5 years old. Methods: 109 children's palm area was measured by the method of sticking-paper to skin. The percentage of the palm surface was 1% of the total body surface area, grouping by age, converse the neck area to the percentage of the neck surface in the body, then calculate the proportion of the percentage of neck surface and the percentage of head&neck surface through the formula of The Rule of Nines. Results:The difference between neck surface percentage and the percentage calculated by formulary of The Rule of Nines of children among 3-11 years old children has statistic significance(P<0.05), yet the difference of the same comparison among 12 years old children has no statistic significance(P>0.05).Conclusions:1. The neck surface percentage of the children between 3 to 11 years old in our test is smaller than the results calculated by formula of The Rule of Nines, and the younger children tested, the greater difference is.2. The proportion of the neck area in head&neck area is less than 1/3 for the children between 3 to 11 years old, and the younger children tested, the smaller propotion is. The proportion of the neck area in head&neck area is close to 1/3.
