Photodynamic Therapy Associated With Intravitreal Bevacizumab Treatment For Central Exudative Chorioretinopathy

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of photodynamic treatment associated with Intravitreal bevacizumab and Photodynamic treatment for central exudative chorioretinopathy(CEC)by Ophthalmic evaluations including optical coherence tomography(OCT),fluorescein angiography(FFA),and best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA).Methods:42 eyes in 41 patients with CEC were assigned to receive either a single PDT session with verteporfin(PDT group;n=220), or PDT associated with Intravitreal bevacizumab(COMB group;n=22). Subjects were followed up at 1 week,1 months and very 3 months after treatment.When the lesion expanded or leakage increased,patients in PDT group were retreated with PDT and patients in COMB group were retreated with Intravitreal bevacizumab.Subjects were followed up at least 3 months after the leakage disappeared.To compare the efficacy and safety of two group by Ophthalmic evaluations including optical coherence tomography(OCT),fluorescein angiography(FFA),and best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA).Results:1.BCVA:Two group BCVA was improved after treatment. The mean number of treatments per eye,COMB group was 6.2±3.6 and PDT group was 4.0±2.9.There was significant difference(P＜0.05).2.OCT:Before and after treatment central foveal thickness(CFD)for two groups were thin.COMB group mean number were187±90μm and PDT group were 159±92μm,There was no significant difference(P＜0. 1);3.FFA:In COMB group CNV was completely disappeared in 19 eyes(81.36%),almost disappeared in 3 eyes(18.63%);PDT group CNV was completely disappeared in 13 eyes(65%),almost disappeared in 5 eye(25%)and partially disappeared in 2 eyes(10%).There was significant difference(P＜0.05);4.Frequency:The mean of PDT treatment,COMB group were 1.00±0.00 and PDT group were 1.45±0.67,There was significant difference(P＜0.0025);5.Recurrence:The rate of retreatment was 9.09%in COMB group and 35%in PDT group.There was significant difference(P＜0.01);6.Complication:There were 3 eyes had damage of retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)(21.30%)in COMB group,and 7 eyes in PDT group. There was significant difference(P＜0.0025);Conclusions:1.photodynamic treatment associated with Intravitreal bevacizumab and Photodynamic treatment are also safe and effective treatment for most patients with CNV caused by CEC2.photodynamic treatment associated with Intravitreal bevacizumab is more safe and effective treatment...
