Background and Objective: as is known to everyone,Food intolerance has relation to IBS,but the newest evidence shows that if the patient restrict intaking food that may rise the level of IgG in one's body ,the symptoms of IBS will relieve obviously .These foundings suggest people to study mechanism of food antigen IgG's production and the action of IgG in IBS。Because food always make the symptom of IBS more serious,patients always ask that if food can influence the course of IBS?It seems that patients would more like to spend money on the food therapy to sovle the problom and they think that this is natural and logical. Unfortunately,becau- se the data in food therapy is insufficient and competing,doctors haven't paid more attentions to the food therapy, the doctors'neglections to food therapy and it's related probloms frustrate patients'confidence in medical treatment,in shortage of effetive medication,patients would seek other help.Like other patients with chronic disease,patients with IBS always being explioted commercially by suspicious therapy that is expensive and short of evidence ,some of these therapy may have risk.Now various foods have been found that can result disorder of intestinal tract in patients with IBS,and the integrients of these foods may have more complicated actions.Because the patients with IBS have diversity,it is posible that the symptoms of some patients being more serious would be thought as results of reaction to some food integrients.The purpose of this article is to study the relation of food intolerance to IBS through checking the level of specic IgG of food intolerance in the serum of patients with IBS. Methods: The food intolerance specific IgG antibodies in serum were measured by enzymelinked immunesorbent assay(ELISA) in 60 patients with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS),all patients adjusted their diet according to the assay results,symptoms were assessed using a questionnaire scoring system.Results:The increased food intolerance specific IgG antibodies ranged from 1 to 4 types in all patients with irritable bowel syndrome,total positive rate was 95%,85% patients showed elevated levels of at least 2 types of antibodies.The most common elevated food intolerance specific IgG detected were that against crab(86.7%)and egg (66.7%),followed by shrimp(60%)and cow's milk(40%).Noincrease of IgG specific to chicken, pork, beef and cod were detected All patients adjusted their diet according to the test results.After 12 weeks,66.7%of patients have significant symptomatic relief 21.6% had moderate relief and no effect was observed in 6.7% of patients(total efficacy=88.3%)Conclusions:The measurement of 14 common food intolerance specific IgG might be very important pole in irritable bowel syndrome and is worthy of further biomedical and clinical research.
