Objective To investigate the Fixion IM expandable self-locking intramedullary nail's biomechanical property and evaluate it's function on treatment of tibial shaft fracture.Methods 1,The anti-axile compression,anti-lateral bending, anti-torsion property and stress shield of the Fixion IM expandable self-locking intramedullary nail were tested and compared with several other fixation procedure.2,To investigate an effect of the Fixion IM expandable self-locking intramedullary nail on treatment of the fracture of the tibial shaft and to compare the Fixion IM nail with the traditional locked intramendullary nail and plate.Result The group of Fixion IM expandable self-locking intramedullary nail was more satisfactory than the group of interlocking intramedullary nail and plate on the anti-axile compression, anti-lateral bending, anti-torsion property and stress shield shows. the same result was got on the treatment of fracture of the tibial shaft.Conclusion The Fixion IM expandable self-locking intramedullary nail is superior to other fixation in biomechanics,it can achieve satisfactory press fit in medullary cavity. As a new reliable fixation,it has a great advantage of enough stability,convenient manipulate program and safety.
