Juvenile athletes are under the period of growth, and their expansion of muscular strength is the results of both physically development and athletic training. The increase of general juvenile's muscular strength shows some characters of age and gender. However, there is no related literature report about such characters in juvenile athletes who have experienced the long-term and regular sports training. 143 juvenile athletes'basic strength and morphologic indexes were tested, and the isokinetic strength was measured in 10 ten-year old athletes using contrex isokinetic meter. The strength characteristics of Suzhou juvenile athletes were analyzed by comparing the strength difference within the age, the gender, and special training. Those would enrich and perfect the theory of strength training and athletes choosing in juvenile, and provide a base for the strength measurement and assessment.Results:1. The index of gripe strength, back strength, leg strength and standing long jump in juvenile athletes showed increasing with the growth, while the index of flexed-arm hang, push-up, and sit-up presented certain vacillation. 2. The index of sit-up, push-up in juvenile athletes were different in gender, the index of grip strength and leg strength didn't show significant differences in gender until the age of 16-17, but the index of flexed-arm hang and back strength showed apparent difference in gender after the adolescence. 3. The index of isokinetic testing showed that there is no apparent difference between left and right of knees'PT in subject, that PT of right elbow in male athletes was greater than the left, but no significant differences in female when the angular speed is 60°/s, that the MP of right elbow in male athletes was greater than the left, but the less than in female athlete, that the F/E of knee in male athletes was 0.63 on the left and 0.5 on the right, those were 0.48 and 0.53 in female athletes, and the F/E of elbow were 0.8 on the left and 0.69 on the right in male athletes, those were 1.1 and 1.1 in female athletes. 4. The correlation analysis showed that the indexes of some strength were related to the monophony index, and the indexes of some basic strength were related to the isokinetic testing index.
