A Clinical Study On Needle Warming Combined With Cupping For Treatment Of Simple Obesity

[Objective]To observe the curative effect and to estimate the avoirdupois , constitutional index as well as long-term follow-up result, we treated 44 simple obesity patients by therapy of needle warming combined with cupping, which was contrasted to needle warming group and cupping group.[Methods]We chose 125 outpatients of simple obesity in department of acupuncture and moxibustion of the third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese medicine from Jan. 2006 to Jan. 2007, including 24 males and 101 females, with 60 and 20 as the maximum and the minimum age respectively, and 35. 25±10.12 average. We separated 125 patients randomly to 3 groups: the needle warming combined with cupping group (44 patients), the needle warming group (48 patients) and cupping group (33 patients). Thus we tested equilibration of the three groups before treatment (P>0.05), with the comparable result.Differentiation of symptoms and signs for classification of syndrome: Accumulation of heat in the stomach and intestines, weakness of the spleen and stomach, genuine Yuan deficiency. Were randomly divided into three groups, select acupoints as follows:Main acupoints: Zhongwan (CV 12), Qihai (CV 6), Zhongji (CV 3), Tianshu (ST 25), Zusanli(S 36), Fenglong(S 40), Sanyinjiao(Sp 6)Supplementary points:Accumulation of heat in the stomach and intestines: Hegu (LI 4) , Quchi(LI 11), Neiting(S 44), Zhigou (SJ 6)Weakness of the spleen and stomach:Yinlingqu(Sp 9), Gongsun (Sp 4) , Pishu (B 20) , Weish (B 21)Genuine Yuan deficiency: Guanyuan (Ren 4) , Pishu (B 20) , Shenshu (B 23) , Mingmen(Du 4)Apartrespectively use the 40-70mm filiform needle to inserte. Accumulation of heat in the stomach and intestines with the reducing method. weakness of the spleen and stomach, genuine Yuan deficiency with the reinforcing method. Put the needle handle into a moxa stick of 1.5-2cm long and ignite the stick to conduct heat into the body through the needle body . every point with 2 units every time . Accumulation of heat in the stomach and intestines selects Zhongwan(CV 12),Qihai(CV 6); Weakness of the spleen and stomach selects Zhongwan(CV 12), Qihai (CV 6), Pishu (B 20) , Weish (B 21) , Zusanli(S 36), Genuine Yuan deficiency selects Zhongwan(CV 12), Qihai(CV 6),Guanyuan (Ren 4) , Shenshu (B 23) , Mingmen(Du 4). After needle warming, wipe the liquid paraffin on the abdomen , put the cup with 4cm inner diameter circumfuse Shenqu (Ren 8) to cup. And follow the channels:the Ren Channel, the Spleen Channel of Foot-Taiyin, the Stomach Channel of Foot-Rangming, the Kidney Channel of Foot-Shaoyin. cupping on the abdomen the waist, make the local area becomes flushedTo observe the interventions influences on patients' the avoirdupois , constitutional index, we recorded and estimated the patients' every index before intervention and at the 3^rd, 6^th month respectively after intervention.[Results]Results of total effective rate and voirdupois , constitutional index of the three groups indicate that he needle warming combined with cupping group was better than the needle warming group which was superior to the cupping group (P<0.05). Needle warming combined with cupping group was better than the needle warming group and the cupping group (P<0.05) in 6^th month respectively after intervention[Conclusions]The therapy of the needle warming combined with cupping, which was used to treat simple obesity, could elevate clinical curative effect and amend patients' voirdupois , constitutional index...
