The Correlation Of Chinese Medical Syndrome Type And Anxiety-depression Index

Ankylosing spondylitis(AS)is a chronic disease that mainly manifests as sacroiliac joint and spinal joint chronic inflammation.It can not be completely cured and outbreaks recurrently.In some severe cases,it may lead to spinal deformity and ankylosis.This can seriously affects the quality of life and living conditions of the patients.Therefore,patients long afflicted by such diseases are prone to have negative emotions such as anxiety, depression,etc.In last decade,psychological assessment has been widely used in many medical fields,mostly in cardio-cerebral vascular and tumors but rarely in Ankylosing spondylitis.Besides that,there has not been any detailed study on the correlation of Chinese Medical syndrome type and anxiety -depression index.However,in the traditional Chinese medical opinion,the shape and soul are indivisible while the body and the mind are correlated. Prolonged physical diseases can lead to mental diseases.In turn,mental diseases can injure viscera,leading to derangement of qi and blood and imbalance of yin and yang,which,ultimately,affect the occurrence and development of the disease.Clearly,the mental factor should receive critical attention in the occurrence,development and prognosis of the disease.The past research literature suggests that the good mental health promotes the healing of the disease.Therefore,while curing the original disease,medical workers must pay attention-to the negative psychological effect which causes on the patients.If we can cure the patients both on their body and on their mind,it would be easier to keep the disease under control and improve their quality of life.In a word,the study on the correlation factors and anxiety-depression index is crucial.In our research we enroll 162 AS patients and 54 healthy people and compare their anxious-depression index.In particular we analyze the correlate factors of anxiety-depression index to guide the clinic treatment.First of all,we record the name,age,gender,courses of disease, education,marital status and income level of the patients.Then,on the subjects we evaluate patient' s function on BASFI,disease' s activity on BASDAI,as well as psychological status on self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)and self-rating depression scale(SDS).In the end,we classify patients into Chinese Medical Syndrome Type.With all the data collected,we analyze them statistically with SPSS 13.0.The result shows a remarkable correlation between AS patients and healthy people on anxiety-depression index.The anxiety-depression index of the female patients is higher than that of the male patients.A positive correlation was found between BASFI and BASDAI,as well as SAS and SDS(P<0.05).There is a significant difference on the anxiety-depression index between the patient with blood stasis congestion and non- blood stasis congestion.(P＞0.05).As shown by the statistics,the AS patients have mild anxiety and depression,especially for the ones who are female,have bad functional activities,or are in active AS.We conclude that the Chinese medical treatment and Propaganda and Instruction on AS may alleviate the anxiety and depression of AS patients.Chinese Medical syndrome type is correlated to the anxietydepression index.As the progress of disease to later stages and the decrease in activity function,the Chinese Medical syndrome type of the patient tends to grow from singular to mixed with blood stasis.The AS patients who are with blood stasis have more serious anxiety and depression than those without.
