Background: Digitized virtual human is a 3D model which is produced by the compucter appling computer Graphics and computer technology to acquire data of the human anatomy. In 1989 the United States put forward the "visible human" and in August 1991 they begin to gather data. The implementation of the plan has aroused great repercussions in the world. Then South Korea, Japan, Germany and Australia have also initiated the project.In November 5-7, 2001 ,174, Xiangshan Science Conference whose topic is "China Digital virtual human technology" announced the beginning of China digitized visible human research.Then Third Military Medical University and the Southern Medical University began to gather data. According to reports in Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou a total of eight data sets have been completed. Hospitals, research institutions used CT and perfusion technology and the software to complete 3D reconstruction modeld of human tissues and organs. In the field of microsurgery, Recently 3D reconstruction of flaps' blood vessels is their research focus. But because of the restrictions on minor vascular structures and image resolution, It is difficult to separate. Therefore, 3D reconstruction of the flap is a problem.It is so intuitionistic, if the 3D model of human tissues and organs are applied to anatomical study, surgery and medical education it will play an immeasurable role.But the volume of data from sections are so large that PC isn't competent and the 3D model from CT can be used only on CT machine. So 3D technology is restricted in some areas as teaching. According to the results of anatomy study ,I produce a 3D model of finger's structure and digital artery island flap.This let displaying the finger's 3D model with PC become a reality.Objective: produce a 3D model of finger's anatomical structures by CAD. Realize displaying the finger's 3D model with PC.Methods : According to Anatomical atlas of the hand and related information,use 3Ds max,poser to procude 3D model. Skin and bones apply polygon modeling, tendons apply Loft modeling,Boolean and FFD editor, digital artery andnerve apply Loft modeling, the flap applys CV Curve and Extrude editor.Results: 3D model of finger's structure and digital artery island flap are produced Successfully. This model can rotate freely on the computer screen.Conclusion: Application of 3D modeling software to procuce anatomical structure model with computer is feasible. It helps people to a better understanding of anatomical structures and memory. We also can use this model to design surgical operation. Breaking away from anatomical atlas and imagination is the ultimate goal of this approach.
