Detection And Significance Of Interleukin-12 And Tumor Necrosis Factor-α In Peritoneal Fluid And Serum Of Patients With Endometriosis

Objective:To detect the changes of interleukin-12(IL-12)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in peritoneal fluid and serum of patients with endometriosis and disscuss the possible role of them in the pathogenesis of endometriosis in order to find more reasonable and effective treatment.Methods:Collect 3ml peritoneal fluid and serum of 40 patients with endometriosis and 20 control cases required tubal anastomosis before and in the surgery.IL-12 and TNF-αlevels were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and analyze the results by SPSS 11.0 statistical software,which finds P＜0.05 to be markedly different.Results:(1)IL-12 levels in peritoneal fluid and serum of endometriosis group were lower than those in control group.(2)IL-12 levels of endometriosis group in peritoneal fluid were lower than those in serum(P＜0.05).(3)IL-12 in peritoneal fluid and IL-12 in serum of stageⅢ,Ⅳin endometriosis group were lower than IL-12 in peritoneal fluid and in serum of stageⅠ,Ⅱ(both P＜0.05).(4)TNF-αlevels in peritoneal fluid and serum of endometriosis group were higher than those in control group.(P＜0.05).(5)TNF-αlevels of EMs group in peritoneal fluid were higher than those in serum(P＜0.05).(6)TNF-αin peritoneal fluid and TNF-αin serum of stageⅢ,Ⅳin endometriosis group were higher than TNF-αin peritoneal fluid and TNF-αin serum of stageⅠ,Ⅱ(both P＜0.05).Conclusion:Unusual levels of IL-12,and TNF-αin serum and PF account for imbalance of the immunologically dynamic environment of EMs patients,which may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.And the lower levels of IL-12 was related to the progression of lesions,on the contrary,the higher levels of TNF-αwas related to the progression of lesions.The detection of IL-12 and TNF-αwill be helpful in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
