Objective To evaluate the correlation between asthmatic children's health-related quality of life and their symptoms and to compare the health-related quality of life between children with asthma and without asthma .Method The PedsQLTM questionnaires were for parents of children with asthma and without asthma. Parents provided health-related quality of life of their children, their own education level, the living place of the family (rural district or city), and the main caregivers of the children (mother, father or others). Parents of the asthmatic children also provided their kids'asthma status. According to 2006GINA, the asthmatic children were separated into three groups which include controlled group, partial controlled group and uncontrolled group. Firstly, the differences of health-related quality of life among these groups were compared. Then the correlation between health-related quality of life of asthmatic children and their symptoms were evaluated. Lastly, the difference of health-related quality of life between the asthmatic children of different groups and the health children were compared and other factors which may also influence children's health-related quality of life were evaluated.Result(1) Asthmatic children with different level of control have statistically different health-related quality of life;(2) There is a slightly correlation between health-related quality of life of asthmatic children and their symptoms;(3) There is no statistic difference between controlled group and health children, statistic difference between health children and partial-controlled and uncontrolled group was founded;(4) Children's health related quality of life is also influenced by other factors, including sex, educational level of parents and the living place(rural district or city),among which the living place is unique to our country.Conclusion(1) The score of health-related quality of life can reflects the asthmatic status properly;(2) Health-related quality of life should be used as one of the evaluation instrument for the clinician;(3) Children's health related quality of life is also influenced by other factors, including sex, educational level of parents and the living place(rural district or city),among which the living place is unique to our country.
