Objective: To proof the accuracy and feasibility of middle cerebral artery (MCA) diameter measurement in the same rabbit using ultrasound angiography using the image analysis software Getcolorpixels. provid a method which can measure the MCA diameter exactly and noninvasivly. In order to explore the scientific cvs diagnostic method.Method :Ultrasound angiography (USA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) were performed on 16 adult rabbits which were subjected to craniotomy. Got the images from 2DUS USA and DSA. Used the software Getcolorpixels to complete quantitative determination on the two kinds of images . Data was analysed. Measured the flow rate under the color mode.Using the formula FS =π×(R/2)2×V statisticsed the normal value of inner diameter, blood flow rate and blood flow. Analyzed the relative value bettween MCA and ICA.Results: There was no obvious difference between the data obtained from two-dimensional USA and DSA (P>0.05).The inner diameter was 660±15μm,the blood flow rate was 35.7±2.6 cm/s and the blood flow was (12.47±0.21)*10-2. The inner diameter relative value bettween the MCA and ICA was 0.65±0.07, the blood flow relative value was 0.20± 0.02.Conclusion: (1)There is the same accuracy and resolution between two-dimensional USA and DSA,USA is simple and reliable. (2)we can calculate blood flow if we know the flow rate at the same time and the method is simple and reliable. (3) the normal blood flow relative value bettween the MCA and ICA is 0.20±0.02 using the Lindegaard theory.
