Objective The paper was aim to explore the relationship among prolactin(PRL) and heat shock protein 70(HSP70),interlukin-22(IL-22),interlukin-10(IL-10) in the salivary gland of Sjogren's syndrome.Methods Immunohistochemical methods was used to detect PRL,HSP70,IL-22 and IL-10 in LSG of pSS,sSS and controls.Correlations among these cytokines and correlations among cytokines and Chisholm's score or clinical manifestations were investigated.Results 1.PRL,HSP70,IL-22,IL-10 were all expressed in the acici,ducts and lymphocytes infiltration area in both SS patients and normal controls.Increased PRL-immunoreactivity was found in infiltrating mononuclear cells,acinar and ductal epithelial cells in pSS and sSS patients compared with normal subjects.The expression of HSP70,IL-22,IL-10 was higher in acinar epithelial cells and infiltrating mononuclear cells in pSS and sSS patients than that in normal subjects,increased IL-10-immunoreactivity was also found in ductal epithelial cells in sSS patients compared with normal subjects.2.A certain positive correlation was found between PRL and HSP70(P<0.05)in LSG of pSS and sSS patients; no signiaficant correlation was found between PRL and IL-22;there was a positive correlation between PRL and IL-10 in LSG of pSS(P<0.01) and sSS(P<0.05) patients. No signiaficant correlation was found between HSP70 and IL-22;A positive correlation was found between HSP70 and IL-10 in LSG of pSS(P<0.01) and sSS(P<0.05) patients;there was also a positive signiaficant correlation between IL-22 and IL-10.3.There was no significant correlation among the expression of PRL,HSP70,IL-22,IL-10 and organ involvement,the expression of anti-SSA and anti-SSB antibody,Chisholm's score neither pSS nor sSS patients.Conclusions 1.The LSG epithelial cells can synthetize PRL,HSP70,IL-22 and IL-10 into the local chronic inflammatory reaction of SS.2.There may be plenty of Th17 cells infiltrate and play an important role in the immunologic derangement in the salivary gland of SS.
