| Objective To evaluate the effects of the implantation of nano-calcium phosphate bone cement to repair canine artificial furcation defects. Methods A total of 18 chronic experimental class II furcation defects of 3 adult Beagles were created surgically ,treated with either a combination of nano-calcium phosphate bone cement(CPC) / coralline hydroxyapatite porous(CHAP) /Guided tissue regeneration (GTR). The animals were sacrificed at 12 weeks postsurgery. Mandible jaw was taken out to place on file by X-ray, manufacturing apud-apo odonto-periodontal specimen, carring out lamellar Helica Scanning by LightSpeed 64 layer VCT,then coronal lamellar was re-established, CT value was measured. Histologic and histometric analysis assessed the volume of periodontal regeneration. Results 1.The X-ray showed that diversity substantia ossea growth can be seen in three groups. But nano-CPC group presented with significantly more substantia ossea growth than the other two groups, highly bone density ,new bone full filled furcation,no vacant space. CHAP group and GTR group have lower substantia ossea and more vacant space. The value of CT in the GTR group is 956.67±56.99.The value of CHAP group is 1269.67±58.84 and the nano-CPC group is 1352.00±44.94.The results of X-ray showed that the nano-CPC/GTR group ,CHAP/GTR group presented with significantly more calcium sediment than the GTR group, and there were no significant differences between them.2. The results of the histomorphometric analysis showed that the nano-CPC/GTR, CHAP/GTR groups presented with significantly greater periodontal regeneration than the GTR group and there were no significant differences between them. The amount of new alveolar bone formation, new cementum formation, new periodontal ligament tissue formation in the GTR group is 1.04±0.04mm,0.66±0.18 mm, 1.68±0.22mm respectively. The CHAP /GTR group: 1.32±0.21mm,1.91±0.53 mm and 3.13±0.46mm;the nano-CPC/GTR group: 2.07±0.39 mm,3.37±0.35 mm and 3.55±0.55mm.Conclusions 1.The implantation of nano-CPC to canine artificial furcation defects presented with significantly more calcium sediment than the CHAP/GTR group and the GTR group.2. It was concluded that the implantation of nano-CPC combined with GTR is an effective modality of regenerative treatment for class II furcation defects. |
