Comparison Of LCP And Compressive Plate In Treatment For Ununited Fracture Of Tibial Diaphysis

Objective:To retrospective reviewed the clinical effects of LCP and dynamic compressive plate (DCP) for Nonunion and pseudarthrosis of tibial diaphysis fractures.Methods:From January 2002 to December 2007,36 patients with Nonunion and pseudarthrosis of tibial diaphysis fractures were treated in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Medical University.Of them there were 25 males and 11 females with an average of 37years old(19 to 62 years old).The fractures were on the left side in 25 patients and on the right side in 13 patients(2 patients had bilateral involvement).19 patients(21) were treated by dynamic compressive plate (DCP group),and 17(17) patients by LCP(LCP group).The average operation time,X-ray score,the range of motion of knee and ankle joints,the healing time,the clinical effects and complications were evaluated.Results:The patients were followed up 8 to 26 months(13 months on average).The operation time was 141.2±11.2min(DCP group),and 135.7±15.4 min(LCP group),showing no significant difference.X-ray score was 2.413±0.361(DCP group),and 4.15±1.02(LCP group);the healing time was 5.10±1.17 months in DCP group,and 4.15±1.02 months in LCP group respectively,all showing significant difference.The function of joint did not show significant difference.The total rate of clinical evaluation of LCP group was better than DCP group,and the complications showed no significant difference.Conclusion:LCP group can achieve satisfactory results in treating nonunion and pseudarthrosis of tibial diaphysis fractures than DCP group.Two groups showed no significant differences in operation time,joint function,complications etc.
