Objective: The fallopian pregnancy is the process that the fertilized ovum is implanted in the oviduct. Now the most common cause, generally accepted, is any factor such as salpingitis, heteroplasia and stricture of fallopian, which retards the passage of the blastocyst to uterus and leads the implantation in the tube. However, some researches have been proofed that the implantation of blastocyst only happened in receptive state and the blockage of blastocyst may not be the necessary reason of the fallopian pregnancy. In the normal menstrual cycle, the expression of ER and PR in human endometrium has the cycle, high level in proliferation, and decreased in secretory phase, especial PR, it would decrease or disappeared in epithelial cells of midsecretory phase. Midsecretory is the receptive phase, the decreased expression of PR is closely related with the development and function of endometrium. The contribution of ER/PR to implantation has been well known but the effect on fallopian pregnancy was few reported.Recent investigation indicates that homeobox genes (HOX genes) and are essential for embryogenesis and development of the endometrium. They are necessary for endometrial receptivity to blastocyst implantation. But there are no reports about the expressions of them in ectopic implantation of fallopian pregnancy. We detected the protein expression of HOXA9 HOXA11 and ER PR in the pregnant and normal fallopian tube to study their effect on fallopian pregnancy. Methods: Immunohistochemistry technique was used to evaluate the protein expression of HOXA9, HOXA11and ER,PR in pregnant and normal fallopian tube.Results:1.HOXA9 and HOXA11 mainly expressed in fallopian epithelium and a small quantity in interstitial substance and ovarian duct smooth muscle. The positive expressions of HOXA9 HOXA11 at the site of ectopic implantation of pregnant fallopian were higher than the normal fallopian tube in proliferative and secretory phase(P<0.05).2. The expression rates of ER,PR in proliferative and secretory tube were higher, and in pregnant tube, the expression of them was lower (P<0.05).Conclusions:1. The positive expressions of HOXA9 and HOXA11 at the site of ectopic implantation of pregnant fallopian were higher than that in the normal fallopian tube (secretory phase). In physiological condition, the decreased of expression of HOXA9 and HOXA11 in secretory fallopian were probably related with prevention from ectopic implantation in fallopian.2.The expression of ER,PR had a higher level in secretory tube, but obviously decreased in pregnant tube.
