With the rapid development of web and information technology, telemedicine has already become very important in diagnosing and therapy. Because the medical images need very high quality, they usually take big storage room, these reasons handicap the development of telemedicine, so medical images'compression becomes urgent recently. Digital images are very easily to be modified, so the authentication is important, and we need to consider about the security of medical images while compressing. The watermark technology can effectively protect the copyright and the validity of the information. If we introduce the watermark technology to the medical images, we can effectively enhance the security of medical images.The target of this paper is to suggest a medical compression technology based on JPEG2000 and watermark. Combining the new fetures in JPEG2000 and the watermark technology, we can enhance the security of medical image compression and protect the private information of patients.Firstly, this paper researches the JPEG2000 standard. It detaily analizes the new features in JPEG2000 technology. It suggests a new ROI compression method based on JPEG2000. Then this paper gives the basic principle of image watermark technology, proposes a fragile watermark algorithm for protecting the security of medical images and a robust watermark algorithmt for safely recording the patient's information, explaines the principle of the algorithms. Then this paper implements the watermark algorithm into the compressing process according to the features of JPEG2000 standard, gives experiment on the algorithm and the experimental results show that both the comprssion and security are good.Lastly, this paper generizes all the works and gives a further plan for the future's research.
