Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy , the advantages and disadvantages of the intact canal wall mastoidectomy and phase I tympanoplasty.Methods: To analyse the clinical materials of the 20 ears treated intact canal wall mastoidectomy and phase I tympanoplasty ,whice came from Guangxi Medical University No. 6 Affiliated Hospital betweew July 2001 and Janusry 2005. The data was processed by the SPSS13.0 statistical software, with paired t-test of bilateral a=0.05.Results: 19 ears could maintain the external auditory meatus normal shapes and the complete and no emboly tympanic membranes. The postoperative hearing of language frequencies of air cinduction were improved≥10 dBHL of 4 cases,≥15 dBHL of 3 cases,≥20 dBHL of cases ,≥25 dBHL of 4 cases and≥30 dBHL of 4 cases. The improvement of air conduction averaged 21±4 dBHL after peration. 1 ear was the external auditory meatus collapsed, tympanic membrane perforation and otorrhea. There was 1 ear's recurrence of cholesteatoma. Conclusion: It is feasible for the appropriate cases selected to be done the phase I tympanoplasty surgery at the same time when done the Intact canal wall mastoidectomy surgery.
