Objective To investigate the incidence,the clinical characteristics,the pathology subtypes,the treatment and the prognosis of the primary extranodal lymphoma(PENL).Methods Retrospective analysis the clinical data of 231 PENL patiens hospitalized in our hospital from January 2003 to October 2007.To observe the age and sex distribution,the location,the clinical characteristics,the pathology characteristics,the treatment and the prognosis of these PENL.Results(1)The age of onset predominantly falled in the range of 30 year to 69 yesr(occupy 69.7%),the male female ratio of PENL is 1.5:1. (2)PENL predilection in head and neck,gastrointestinal tract,skin,bone and soft tissue,which occupy 42.0%,20.8%,11.3%,10.4%,respectively. (3)71.0%of PENL had a tumor with primary lesion and lump of affected organ. 24.7%of PENL were been misdiagnosised in the first diagnosis.(4)The predominantly pathology subtypes of PENL were DLBCL,PTCL-u,NK/T-cell lymphoma,which occupy 41.1%,18.2%,10o0%,respectively.(5)According to location the complete remission rate form high to low was:skin PENL,72.7%. gastrointes tinal tract PENL,40.5%.head and neck PENL,34.9%.bone and soft tissue,31.3%.According to pathology subtypes the complete remission rate form high to low was:MALT lymphoma,77.8%.DLBCL,45.6%.PTCL-u, 26.3%.NK/T-cell lymphoma,11.1%.Conclusion PENL predilection in age of 30~69 year,male more than female.PENL predilection in head and neck,gastrointestinal tract.Because of the clinical characteristics of PENL wasn't specificity,PENL was easily to be misdiagnosised.The major pathology subtypes of PENL were DLBCL and PTCL-u.The skin PENL and MALT lymphoma have a high complete remission rate,while the nasal cavity,accessory nasal cavity PENL and NK/T-cell lymphoma have a low complete remission rate.
