Objective: Study the relationship between the serum level of Interleukin-23 in chronic hepatitis patients and hepatic function index, prognosis and replication of hepatitis B virus, and discuss the possible mechanism of IL-23 in the course of chronic hepatitis B, is to provide experimental and theoretical basis of the role of cytokine in the course of chronic hepatitis B.Methods: The serum level of IL-23 of 60 patients with chronic viral hepatitis, 20 hepatitis B patients with cirrhosis, 23 patients with chronic severe hepatitis, 17 patients with chronic viral hepatitis who have carried out the artificial liver treatment and 10 healthy individual (control group) was detected by ELISA technology. Results: (1)The serum average level of IL-23 of 60 patients with chronic viral hepatitis, 20 hepatitis B patients with cirrhosis and 23 patients with chronic severe hepatitis was higher than that of the healthy individual (P<0.05).(2) The serum average level of IL-23 of chronic severe hepatitis group was higher than that of the chronic viral hepatitis group and cirrhosis group (P<0.05) ; The serum average level of IL-23 of cirrhosis group was lower than that of chronic viral hepatitis group, but there was no statistical significance (P>0.05).(3) The serum average level of IL-23 of control group, chronic severe hepatitis Effective group and invalid chronic severe hepatitis Group was Followed by incremental, there was statistical significance among the three groups (P<0.05).(4)The serum average level of IL-23 of chronic severe hepatitis Effective group after treatment was significant decreased than that of before treatment (P=0.022); The serum average level of IL-23 of invalid chronic severe hepatitis Group after treatment was elevated than that of before treatment, but there was no statisticalsignificance (P=0.348).(5) The serum average level of IL-23 of artificial liver treatment group after treatment was significant decreased than that of before treatment (P<0.001).(6) The serum average level of IL-23 of all 107 chronic viral hepatitis patients with Low viral load group was significant higher than that of High viral load group(P<0.05); The serum average level of IL-23 of middle viral load group was higher than that of Low viral load group but lower than that of High viral load group, but there was no statistical significance (P> 0.05).(7)In chronic viral hepatitis group, The serum average level of IL-23 was positive correlation with TBIL and ALT, and it have no relationship with AST, ALB, PT.In cirrhosis group and in chronic severe hepatitis group, The serum average level of IL-23 have no relationship with all the index above. Conclusions: (1)The serum average level of IL-23 of chronic viral hepatitis patients was significant higher than that of healthy individual.(2)There was difference among the serum of IL-23 level in chronic severe hepatitis patients with different prognosis.(3) There was difference among the serum of IL-23 level in chronic viral hepatitis patients with different viral load.(4) The serum level of IL-23 can reflect the damage of liver function To a certain extent. The early detection of The serum level of IL-23 of chronic viral hepatitis patients can judge the condition and prognosis, and guide clinical treatment.
