Objective: To investigate the effect and machanism of Celecoxib combined with Norfloxacin in the treatment of patients with chronic prostatitis (CP), and to compare the concentration of IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 and TNF-a levels in VB3 before and after treatment. Methods: A non-blind, randomized control study was conducted. Levels of IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 and TNF-a in VB3 were measured by ELISA in 66 patients with CP before and after two-week treatment with Celecoxib, Norfloxacin and combination of the 2 drugs. NIH-CPSI questionnaires were used for pain measurement before and after treatment. Results: Levels of IL-10, IL-8 and TNF-a were higher in patients with CP than in controls(P<0.05). IL-10 was higher and IL-8 was lower than before(P<0. 05) in the Celecoxib group and the drug combination group. The reduction of NIH-CPSI after treatment with Celecoxib and drug combination were statistically significant(P<0.05). IL-6 was not detected in the VB3 of all patients. Conclusion: Levels of IL-10, IL-8 and TNF-a are higher in patients with CP. they may play a important role in pathogenesis of CP. The concentration of IL-10 in VB3 in patients with CP were increased , while IL-8 was decreased , after treatment with Celecoxib and drug combination . The single use of Celecoxib, as well as the combination of Celecoxib and Norfloxacin, can reduce the pain of patients with CP effectively.
