Background and ObjectiveObscure bleeding is bleeding of unknown origin that persists or recurs after initial colonoscopy and endoscopy of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Obscure bleeding can have two forms: obscure occult bleeding as manifest by recurrent iron deficiency anaemia or faecal occult blood tests; obscure overt bleeding with recurrent passage of overt blood. Both forms can present diagnostic and management difficulties. Since the establishment of the technique of selective visceral angiography, vascular malformation of the gut has been recognized as animportant cause of gastrointestinal bleeding . We report 11 cases of vascular malformation of intestine. To evaluate the effect of selective mesenteric angiography and operative Methylthioninium Chloride injection in the diagnosis of vascular malformation of intestine and discuss the surgical therapy of this disease. MethodsThe clinical data Of 11 cases of lower gastrointestinal bleeding caused by vascular malformation of intestine were analyzed retrospectively.Results11 cases were confirmed to suffer from vascular malformation of intestine by selective mesenteric angiography. 5 cases by Methylthioninium Chloride injection, and 11 cases received operation, clinical cure rate was 100% .ConclusionsThe DSA and operative Methylthioninium Chloride injection of this disease are recommendable.
